**Ancient China was one of the oldest and longest lasting civilizations in the history of the world. The history of Ancient China can be traced back over 4,000 years ago.

**Ancient China has the longest lasting empire in history. About 12 different dynasties have ruled China,  The Qin dynasty which started in  221 BC ruled for more than 2,000 years.

**Art, culture, and religion were often tied together. There were three main religions or philosophies in ancient Chinese society- Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism.

**The Last Emperor of China, Henry Puyi, became ruler in 1908 when he was only 2 to 3 years old.

**The Chinese have been using  chopsticks to eat with for over 4,000 years.🤔😀

**The Art of War is a famous book on battle strategy written by military strategist Sun Tzu during the Spring and Autumn Period. Even though it is over 2500 years old, it is often quoted today.

**Two major rivers played a role in Ancient China: the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. The Yangtze is the third longest river in the world (the largest in Asia).

**In China the dragon is a symbol of good luck, power, and strength. The dragon was often the symbol of the Emperor.

**The Ancient Chinese were the first people to drink tea(☕). At first it was primarily used for medicine. And Chinese tea is still medicinal.

**Although many people speak different types of Chinese, the written language was the same making reading and writing very important to the Empire.

**The biggest festival of the year was the "New Year celebration". Everyone took time off and celebrated during this time.
